about

S.O.T.S. features the up-tempo reel rhythm from the Tambrin tradition and its title is an acronym for “Sons of the Soil.” This tune is an ode to all of the musicians and composers from the Caribbean that have paved the way for me and is a tribute to an amazing Trinidadian pianist, the late Raf Robertson. Its melody is built around a chromatic idea that was very present in Raf’s improvisational language and its energy leverages the celebratory tone of the reel to close out the album on a high note.
