about

BRIDGES, the title track of the album, employs the ubiquitous three against four polyrhythm to represent the album’s overarching theme of intersection, while celebrating the West African roots of this music. Its opening melody sits on top of a big three pulse and (like Big Ole Shoes) evokes a sense of tribal sophistication. The song’s bridge shifts to the four-side of the polyrhythm and later modulates to a brighter key, only to return to the three-side of the polyrhythm and feature an understated, singable melody.
